Premier League champions Liverpool announced that they would retire the jersey No. 20 in honour of the late Portuguese forward Diogo Jota, who was snatched away by the hands of fate in a car crash in Spain that also claimed the life of his brother Andre Silva.
Jota met his end on July 3, 2025, after a tragic car accident in Zamora, Spain, at just 28 years of age.
“After consultation with his wife, Rute, and family, the club can announce the squad number will be retired in honour and memory of Diogo across all levels, including LFC Women and Academy," the Merseyside club revealed.
