Kiran Mazumdar names her niece Claire as her successor

Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw, founder of Biocon, has indicated that she was preparing for a gradual leadership transition over the next five years. Her niece, Claire Mazumdar, is expected to eventually take over as chairperson of Biocon.

Ms Claire currently serves as the CEO of Bicara Therapeutics, a U.S.-based biotechnology company, where she has been leading the business since 2020. Bicara Therapeutics is a publicly traded clinical-stage biotechnology company, primarily owned by institutional investors, with significant backing from its founder, Biocon Ltd, as per market sources.
