Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday stood firm on his stand that Sree Narayana Guru should not be seen as a proponent of Sanatana Dharma.
Responding to the BJP’s criticism of the remarks that he had made while inaugurating the Sivagiri pilgrimage on Tuesday, Mr. Vijayan said he stood firm on what he had said. On the BJP allegation that he had insulted Sanatana Dharma for “vote bank politics,” Mr. Vijayan said there is no need to link Narayana Guru with Sanatana Dharma.
He also reiterated his support to Sivagiri Madhom president Swami Sathchidananda’s suggestion that temples should end the practice of making devotees remove their shirts before entering temples saying that it is a good suggestion.
