Kanniyakumari Collector distributes deworming tablets to students

Marking the National Deworming Day on Monday, Kanniyakumari Collector R. Alagumeen distributed the deworming tablets to students of S.L.B. school in Nagercoil.

The Collector said that deworming day was observed twice a year in February and August. The tablets were distributed to all anganwadi centers, health centres, government and aided school students and women between the age of 20 and 30 except pregnant women and lactating mothers.

A total of 6,33,809 individuals in the district were receiving tablets with 5,58,766 children between the age 1 and 19 and 75,043 women between the age 20 to 30. The deworming campaign involves 1,161 anganwadi workers, 1,225 school teachers and college professors, 217 health department officials and 36 Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) members.
