The Indian national flag was spotted flying high during the Champions Trophy 2025 opener between New Zealand and Pakistan on Wednesday, February 19 at the National Stadium in Karachi. The flag was placed in between Bangladesh and New Zealand’s flag under the bright and sunny skies. Earlier, a video went viral where the Indian flag wasn’t visible at the same venue.

It’s common for venues to have flags of all participating teams during a multi-nation event. It was speculated that since Rohit Sharma’s India wouldn’t be playing their matches in Pakistan, the Indian flag was missing. Team India would all their games at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), however, clarified as to why the Indian flag wasn’t there in Karachi. “The ICC has advised that only four (4) flags will be hoisted on CT25 match days - ICC (Event Authority), PCB (Event Host) and the two sides competing on that day,” a PCB source told India Today.
