New Delhi: Shai Hope and John Campbell’s half-centuries, guided West Indies toward what could be their best batting day of the tour. Campbell’s fifty marked the first by a West Indies player on this series, while Hope a half-century for the first time in 31 Test innings.
Earlier, West Indies had lost two early wickets in their second innings after being bowled out for 248 in the first, following a five-wicket haul by Kuldeep Yadav on Day 3. At the close of their first innings, they still trailed India’s total of 518 by 270 runs.
After scoring 217/8 in their first innings at Lunch on Sunday, the West Indies reached 35/2 in their second innings at Tea. While all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja had dominated as the key wicket-taker on Day 2 following his match-winning performance in the first Test, it was Kuldeep Yadav who claimed a five-wicket haul on Day 3.
