Around 200 two-wheelers parked at the Varanasi railway station were reduced to ashes after a major fire broke out in the parking yard designated for railway employees.
The fire, believed to have been caused by a short circuit, quickly spread through the densely packed motorcycles at the Cantonment Railway Station in Varanasi on late Friday night.
Despite the prompt response from the fire brigade and railway police, the damage was extensive. All 200 bikes are believed to belong to railway staff, although the rescue team managed to save a few.
