Governor Houses Across India Get New Name, Know The Real Reason Behind The Nationwide Change

The Governor’s official residence in Karnataka has been renamed “Lok Bhavan, Karnataka” following a directive from the Union Home Ministry (MHA) and subsequent orders issued by the Governor, according to an official announcement on Wednesday (December 3, 2025).

The change is made in accordance with communication from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs and has been approved by the Governor of Karnataka.

With immediate effect, all official records, correspondence and references would use the new nomenclature “Lok Bhavan, Karnataka”. All departments and authorities are requested to update their documents, letterheads, websites and other communications to reflect this change, said an official release.
