Google Maps lands Assam Police in Nagaland, locals hold them captive mistaking them for criminals

A 16-member Assam PoliceAssam PoliceAssam Police team reached Nagaland- with the help of Google Maps- during a raid where they were attacked and captured by local residents who mistook them for criminals. The incident happened in Nagaland’s Mokokchung district when the police team were carrying out a raid to catch a criminal.

Dressed as civilians, the armed cops entered Mokokchung in Nagaland after which the locals attacked them and held them captive for the night. The police personnel were eventually rescued by Nagaland Police.

As per news agency PTI, a police official said that Google Maps mistakenly showed a tea garden, which was in Nagaland, to be in Assam, which resulted in the confusion.
