Four held for murdering woman

The police have arrested four persons, including a sorcerer and his woman associate, for allegedly murdering a woman for stealing 7 sovereigns of gold chain from her and dumping her body in an irrigation channel in October last.

The police said S. Kayalvizhi, 28, of Madanpillaidharmam village under Pazhavoor police station limits, who was living with her parents after deserting her husband, went missing on October 5 last after she went to a temple. Her father Sivalingadurai filed a complaint with Pazhavoor police the next day.

After scrutinising her mobile phone contacts, the police found that Kayalvizhi and Sivalingadurai were in touch with sorcerer Sivasamy from Kottaram in Kanniyakumari district, who had promised them that he would perform a few rituals to reunite her with her husband.
