Due to fog and poor visibility, quite a few flights were delayed and some of them were diverted from Chennai to Bengaluru airport on Tuesday (February 4, 2025) morning.

Officials of Airports Authority of India (AAI) said, flights from London, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Coimbatore, Muscat, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore which had to arrive in the city early morning could not land as the visibility had dropped. They were then diverted to the nearby Bengaluru airport.

“Around 6 a.m., the visibility started to drop to 600 metres due to fog. Gradually, around 7 a.m., it went down even further to as much as 150 metres. After 9 a.m., the weather improved, and the visibility got better. After 10 a.m., the flights which were diverted have started returning to the city,” an official said.
