Kamal Haasan, MNM chief, takes oath as Rajya Sabha member

Actor and Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) founder Kamal Haasan took oath as the Rajya Sabha member on Friday (July 25, 2025). Mr. Haasan took the oath in Tamil. He took oath under the Constitution of India.

During the oath taking he said “Under Indian law, I am taking oath as the Rajya Sabha member.”

He further said “Under the Constitution of India, I solemnly swear that I will keep up India’s sovereignty and also work for the unity of India.”

Mr. Haasan further said that “I solemnly swear that the work I am about to venture now will be followed with honesty. I also swear that the work I undertake will be followed with sublime honesty and with a noble system.”
