Charges have been filed by the Goa police against the proprietor of a beachfront resort with a view of Ashwem beach in Mandrem. This action comes in response to a complaint raised by Shrinivas Dempo, the honorary vice consul of Italy, concerning an incident on January 1. The incident involved celebratory fireworks from the property causing serious injuries to Paola Ferri, the wife of the Italian ambassador, Vincenzo De Luca.
