Multiple explosions at a fireworks storage facility in Esparto, a rural community in Yolo County, California, triggered a massive fire on Tuesday evening, prompting road closures and evacuation orders under emergency response, said officials.
The Yolo County Sheriff’s Office stated that the incident occurred near County Roads 23 and 86A, where a structure housing fireworks caught fire following a series of explosions.
Several buildings on the property were engulfed in flames, which also spread to surrounding vegetation, igniting multiple grass fires. As of Tuesday night, the combined burn area was estimated to be around 80 acres.
