ELECTION UPDATE: Clashes erupt on Naoda highway amid Murshidabad voting tensions

Polling in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district, particularly in the Naoda assembly region, witnessed heightened tension as reports emerged of clashes between rival political groups during voting hours.

The situation on the ground became sensitive as supporters of different sides confronted each other on a main road connecting several polling areas, prompting security forces to intervene and bring the situation under control. Despite the unrest, voting continued in most booths under tight security arrangements, with authorities closely monitoring sensitive pockets to prevent further escalation.

Amid the developments, attention has also turned toward Humayun Kabir, a prominent political figure actively present in the constituency during polling. His presence in the area has coincided with the tense atmosphere, as supporters gathered around him during his movement between polling locations.
