Earthquake of magnitude 5 strikes Tibet days after floods in Nepal kill over 1,000

An earthquake of magnitude 5 struck Tibet on Thursday, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ) said.

The quake was at a depth of 10 km (6.21 miles), GFZ said.

This comes just a week after catastrophic floods on the China-Nepal border killed over a thousand people in Nepal.

Chinese state media earlier confirmed 21 people were killed in Tibet, bringing the total toll from the disaster that struck on August 26 to 1,273.
