Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh granted 21-day furlough

Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim has once again been granted parole, marking his seventh release from prison. This time, he is out for 21 days. The Punjab and Haryana High Court approved his petition for furlough, allowing him to leave the Rohtak Sunaria Jail under police protection.

Ram Rahim will spend this period at the Barnawa Ashram in Uttar Pradesh’s Bagpat district, where extensive preparations, including increased security, have been made. The release coincides with the lead-up to the Haryana Assembly elections in 2024, adding political significance to his furlough.

Ram Rahim, who is serving a life sentence for rape and murder, has previously been granted parole six times. His current release, which also aligns with his birthday on August 15, has sparked jubilation among his followers. The security around the ashram has been significantly heightened to ensure safety during his stay.
