Delhi's LSR College shifts classes online

Delhi’s Lady Shri Ram College for Women has shifted classes online following a reported gang-rape of a 17-year-old girl near the college and a subsequent police encounter involving an accused. The incident has heightened concerns among students and faculty about safety around the campus.

The college administration said student safety, security and well-being remain its priority and advised students to contact faculty members, mentors or counsellors if they face any concerns. Students have reportedly expressed fear while travelling alone between the college, PG accommodations and the metro station, with some saying they prefer moving in groups.

The incident has also triggered questions over security arrangements, including CCTV cameras, security personnel and a nearby police booth. College authorities have temporarily moved regular classes online following the incident. The case has renewed public discussion over women’s safety in Delhi and the security measures available to female students in and around educational institutions.
