The Delhi High Court on Thursday asked the Directorate of Education (DoE) to respond to a petition by Delhi Public School (DPS) Dwarka, challenging the DoE’s order reinstating 31 students expelled from the school for non-payment of the hiked fees.
During the hearing, the counsel for the school argued that the DOE’s May 15 order was “arbitrary and contrary to the law” and failed to provide “any cogent reasons” for the school to reinstate the fee-defaulting students.
The counsel stated that the order also “violated” the provisions of the Delhi School Education Act and Rules, 1973, which empowered the head of the school to strike off the names of students due to non-payment of fees.
