The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) on Thursday, May 8 at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala came to an abrupt end. After the first ball of the 11th over in Punjab’s innings, when T Natarajan got the wicket of Priyansh Arya, one of the floodlights went off and play was halted.

But soon, it was learned that the match was called off. While initially it was assumed that play was halted due to a floodlight failure, two more light towers were switched off and the crowd was asked to leave the stadium for security purposes.

After PBKS opted to bat first, Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh got them off to a flying start with a 122-run partnership for the opening wicket off 10.1 overs. But Natarajan gave DC the breakthrough with the wicket of Priyansh. Just after Priyansh got out, the officials took the decision to call the match off. Footage of the official broadcasters showed an empty ground with most of the floodlights switched off.
