Complaint against Munawar Faruqui for insulting religion on Hafta Vasooli show

Munawar Faruqui has landed in legal trouble after a complaint was lodged against the stand-up comedian for hurting religious sentiments through his JioHotstar show, Hafta Vasooli. Advocate Amita Sachdeva shared a copy of her complaint on X, alleging that the show promotes obscenity and hurts religious sentiments.

The advocate shared screenshots of an email requesting an FIR under BNS Sections 196, 299, and 353, along with the IT Act and other applicable laws. The complaint alleges that the OTT show insults multiple religions, violates cultural values, and negatively influences young minds and society.
