Chittoor district braces for cyclone Montha

The Chittoor district administration has been placed on high alert after an orange alert for the next three days due to the cyclone Montha was issued for the district.

Addressing a meeting with officials from Revenue, Irrigation, Panchayat Raj, Police, and APSPDCL wings, District Collector Sumit Kumar on Sunday directed all departments to remain vigilant and ensure immediate response to any rain-related emergencies.

Reviewing preparedness measures, the Collector instructed all field staff to remain on duty and be available round-the-clock. He ordered the identification of vulnerable areas, old and dilapidated buildings, and safe shelters for evacuation, if needed. Officials were told to alert villagers through public addressal system about potential flooding in streams and canals.
