Children Of Indian-American Immigrants Face Deportation As Time Runs Out
Trouble for children of legal immigrants does not seem to end soon, as around 2,50,000 of them are now facing the risk of being deported back to the country where they don't know anyone because they are ageing out when they turn 21.
Out of the total number of children at risk, a large number are Indian Americans who arrived in the US as a young kid with their parents. On Thursday, the White House blamed the Republicans for this legislative impasse.
Speaking at a daily news conference, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said, “I talked about the bipartisan agreement that came together from the Senate where we negotiated a process to help the so-called documented Dreamers. And sadly, Republicans, and I've said this many times already at this podium today, which is that they voted it down twice. They voted it down twice," as quoted by news agency PTI.
