The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday (May 28), approved the 108-km four-lane Badvel-Nellore corridor at ₹3,653 crore on NH-67. The road will be laid under Design-Build-Finance-Operate-Transfer mode.

According to a release from the Press Information Bureau of India, the Badvel-Nellore corridor will connect important nodes in the three industrial corridors of Andhra Pradesh — Kopparthy on Vishakhapatnam-Chennai Industrial Corridor, Orvakal on Hyderabad-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor and Krishnapatnam on Chennai-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor (CBIC). This will have a positive impact on the ‘Logistic Performance Index’ of the country.

The Badvel-Nellore Corridor will start at Gopavaram village on NH-67 in YSR Kadapa district and terminate at Krishnapatnam Port Junction on NH-16 (Chennai-Kolkata) in SPSR Nellore District of Andhra Pradesh. It will provide strategic connectivity to the Krishnapatnam Port, which has been identified as a priority node under CBIC.
