Fans who enjoy imitating Jackie’s unique look might have to find a new way to express their admiration, as the actor seeks legal control over his public image. On Tuesday, the Bollywood actor had moved to the Delhi High Court to ‘seek protection of his personality and publicity rights.’ The upcoming court hearing on May 15th will be closely watched, raising questions about the boundaries of celebrity persona and public imitation.
Apart from Jackie Shroff, Bollywood actors like Anil Kapoor, and veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan opted for a legal way to protect their, ‘personality rights’. In September 2023, the Delhi High Court passed an interim order to protect the personality rights of Anil Kapoor. The Delhi HC further restrained multiple entities from misusing his image, voice, name, and other particular elements that define the persona of the actor.
