Arshad Nadeem hilariously asks for land instead of buffalo from father-in-law
New Delhi: Arshad Nadeem, Pakistan’s first-ever individual Olympic gold medallist, shared an intriguing perspective on his father-in-law’s gift of a buffalo in celebration of his historic achievement. Nadeem made headlines at the Paris Olympics with a throw of 92.97 meters to secure gold in the men’s javelin event. In their village, where traditions hold deep significance, this buffalo is regarded as a “very valuable” and “honourable” gift, reflecting the cultural appreciation for such a gesture.
Nadeem, hailing from the rural area of Khanewal in Punjab, was recently asked about the unique gift in an interview. The Olympic gold medallist responded with humor, saying, “She was the one who told me and I said ‘buffalo’? He could have given me five acres of land. But then I said ok fine, he gave me a buffalo, that is also nice,” Nadeem said on ARY News.
Nadeem also revealed that his wife learned about the buffalo gift through media reports, adding an unexpected twist to the story.
