The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) filed an appeal in the Varanasi district court on Tuesday, seeking an additional three weeks of time to submit the report of the scientific survey conducted on the Gyanvapi Mosque premises.
Standing government counsel for ASI, Amit Srivastava, submitted the application requesting more time to put together the final comprehensive report.
The court is set to hear ASI’s plea at around 2 pm today, a Hindustan Times report said.
The scientific survey of the mosque — spread over a course of 100 days — was completed on November 2. However, during this period, ASI sought multiple extensions, citing the thoroughness required in making the report.
