Anurag Kashyap defends Animal as daughter Aaliyah Kashyap calls Sandeep Reddy Vanga's film 'horrible'
Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film Animal made headlines last year after it was released. Featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Bobby Deol and Anil Kapoor in key roles, the movie shattered records at the box office. However, the movie also received severe criticism for showcasing toxic masculinity. Now, after months the film’s release, director Anurag Kashyap showered love on Animal and shared pics of him with Sandeep Reddy Vanga and called him ‘most misunderstood, judged and reviled filmmaker at the moment’.
Anurag recently joined his daughter Aaliyah Kashyap Young, Dumb & Anxious, where he discussed his decision to post a photo with Sandeep and praise him. Aaliyah, who also did not like the Ranbir Kapoor-starrer asked her father ‘What in the world was the Sandeep Reddy Vanga post?’ To this, the director said, “I met him (Sandeep Reddy Vanga), and I liked him. I like the guy.
I’ve had questions of my own, and I wanted to talk to him about his film (Animal), and I invited him, and I had a long five-hour conversation, and I like the guy. I always believe in talking to people. I was cancelled after Dev D (2009) by a lot of people for making a ‘misogynistic’ film. I have often seen people isolating someone, attacking someone and that is not the way to be.”
