Andhra Pradesh tragedy: 10 dead as bus packed with pilgrims falls into gorge in Alluri Sitarama Raju district

At least 10 people were killed and several others were injured when a private bus fell into a deep gorge on the Chinturu–Maredumilli ghat road in Alluri Sitarama Raju district late Thursday night. Officials said the number of deaths may increase as rescue operations are still underway.

Authorities said the bus was carrying 37 people from Chittoor district, including two drivers. The group was on a pilgrimage and was heading to Annavaram after visiting Bhadrachalam.

According to police, the accident happened near the 9th milestone close to Tulasipaka, an area known for its dangerous bends. The bus is believed to have gone off the road after hitting a safety wall, causing passengers to be thrown inside the vehicle and down the hillside.
