The Allahabad High Court on Thursday (May 22, 2025) refused to quash the FIR lodged against fact-checker Mohammed Zubair for his tweets about religious leader Yati Narsinghanand. The court, however, continued the interim protection from arrest granted to Mr. Zubair in December last year.

During the hearing of the plea filed by Mr. Zubair to quash the FIR lodged against him by the Uttar Pradesh Police, a Bench of Justices Siddhartha Varma and Yogendra Kumar Srivastav ordered the fact-checker to cooperate with the investigation.

The police had submitted to the court that the FIR against Mr. Zubair was filed on the complaint of one of the priests at Dasna Devi Temple, Ghaziabad, Udita Tyagi. The complainant had alleged that Mr. Zubair, on October 3, 2024, had shared an old video of Mr. Narsinghanand with the intent to incite violence against him.
