Tesla To Set Up Manufacturing Facility in Karnataka
After forming its India entity, Tesla is going to be setting up a manufacturing facility in India, in the state of Karnataka. The news comes from Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa who announced the manufacturing facility in a statement given in Kannada.
"American firm Tesla will open its electric car manufacturing unit in Karnataka," Yediyurappa said in a statement. He added that an industrial corridor will be set up in the Tumkur district neighbouring Bangalore at a cost of Rs 7,775 crore.
In January, Tesla registered the company in Bangalore for setting up an R&D unit. Tesla registered Tesla Motors India and Energy Pvt Ltd, incorporated with the investment pipped through Tesla's Dutch subsidiary, which potentially gives Elon Musk's company taxation benefits.
