As of October 29, the all-India average retail price for onions stands at nearly Rs 48 per kilogram, reaching a maximum retail price of Rs 83 per kilogram.

In the Delhi-NCR region, onion prices have now reached Rs 80 per kilogram across retail markets.

While Delhi has experienced the most significant surge in onion prices, other states have also witnessed notable increases, according to government data.

A combination of factors, including a shortage in production and heightened demand during the festive season, is responsible for the rapid rise in onion prices in Delhi-NCR. Prices have soared to Rs 65-80 per kilogram in physical retail markets and similar rates are prevalent on online platforms.
