IIT Aspirant Studying in Kota Commits Suicide at Home in UP's Ballia

A 20-year-old student who was preparing for the IIT Entrance Exam in Rajasthan’s Kota, also known as the coaching capital of India has allegedly committed suicide at his home in Uttar Pradesh. The student hanged himself from a ceiling fan at his residence in UP, as per the police. The deceased student, Roshan Verma was a native of the Devki Chhapra village in the Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh.

The student was sleeping in the verandah of his house with some other family members on Monday night. However, at some point of time, he went to his room and ended his life by hanging himself from the ceiling fan, using a towel, the police said. The deceased student was preparing for the IIT entrance exam in Kota, after completing his Class 12.

As per the police, the student was on a holiday visit to his home. It was only until the next morning though, when the boy’s family learnt about the unfortunate incident. In the past few days, Roshan had also been grappling with a severe headache, and was also undergoing treatment for the same. It is believed that he committed suicide because of it, SHO Dharam Veer Singh said. The body has been sent for post-mortem, the SHO added.
