Jammu-Kashmir will observe the fourth anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370 on Saturday and in view of the same, security has reportedly been beefed up in Jammu while the Amarnath Yatra will remain suspended from the Jammu base camp today. On August 5, 2019, the Union government abrogated provisions of Article 370 and Article 35 A of the Constitution, which accorded special status to Jammu and Kashmir, and bifurcated the state into Union territories -- Jammu and Kashmir (with a legislature) and Ladakh.

The Amarnath Yatra will remain suspended on Saturday, Jammu Deputy Commissioner Avny Lavasa told news agency PTI without citing a reason for it. However, the PTI report mentioned sources as informing that the decision was taken as a precautionary measure in view of the anniversary. They also said that security has been beefed up in Jammu.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday stated that the Srinagar administration has denied the party permission to hold an event to mark the fourth anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370.
