Workers unions stage protest in Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai against labour codes

Workers of the CITU and VCK staged a protest here on Monday urging the Union government to withdraw the four labour codes. The protesters were detained by the police and later released in the evening.

CITU general secretary M. Balasubramaniam, said the NDA government should repeal the anti-labour laws and safeguard workers’ hard-won rights.

“The four labour codes termed by the government and corporates as pro-labour are actually against the employees and workers. To conceal the true evil nature of the laws, the government added a few beneficial provisions to mask the core dilution of workers’ rights,” he added.
