Woman, two daughters found dead

A 34-year-old woman and her two young daughters lost their lives reportedly after jumping into the Meenachil River here on Tuesday.

The deceased were identified as Jis Mol Thomas, wife of Jimmy Thonnanmavunkal, and their two daughters, five-year-old Neha and two-year-old Ponnu. The incident took place at Pulikunnu near Ettumanoor around 1.30 p.m.

Preliminary reports suggest that the woman, along with her children, reached the riverbank on her motorbike and entered the river through a bathing ghat. The incident came to light when locals noticed a body floating in the water. In the search that followed, the remaining two bodies were also recovered by local residents. Upon receiving an alert, a police team reached the spot and shifted the bodies for post-mortem examination.
