
Woman killed in compound wall collapse as Bengaluru receives second highest rain in May since 2011
A 35-year-old woman was killed when a part of the compound wall of the building where she was working collapsed in Mahadevapura on Monday, as heavy pre-monsoon rain battered Bengaluru from Sunday night well into Monday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Shashikala, who was working as a housekeeping staff for a private company in Channasandra. According to the police, she was cleaning the premises around 7 a.m. after the late-night heavy rain when the incident occurred. The compound wall got weakened owing to the rain and collapsed and she was buried under the debris, the police said.
The police said that she was from Yadgir and came to the city along with her family for work. She is survived by her husband, a daily wage labourer, and two children.
