India fast bowler Mohammed Siraj was fined 15 percent of his match fee and handed one demerit point for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the fourth day of the third Test against England at Lord’s.

The incident took place in the sixth over of England’s second innings on Sunday, when Siraj dismissed opener Ben Duckett and celebrated excessively close to the batter. This was deemed a violation of Article 2.5 of the ICC Code, which prohibits “using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an International Match.”

The charge was jointly levied by on-field umpires Paul Reiffel and Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid, third umpire Ahsan Raza, and fourth umpire Graham Lloyd. Siraj admitted the offence and accepted the sanction, avoiding a formal hearing.
