Violence broke out outside a mosque in the Chomu area of Jaipur after a dispute escalated over the removal of stones near the religious site, creating tension in the locality. The incident took place in the early hours of Friday, December 26, around 4:00 am, according to police sources.
Officials stated that when police attempted to stop the gathering and control the situation, a group of people allegedly resorted to stone pelting. The attack resulted in injuries to nearly half a dozen police personnel deployed at the spot. In order to restore law and order, police were forced to carry out a lathi charge to disperse the crowd.
Sources further claimed that tear gas shells were also fired to control the unruly mob as the situation threatened to spiral out of control. Additional police forces were rushed to the area to prevent further violence and ensure the safety of residents.
