US President Biden To Draw Contrast With Trump On Democracy, Abortion In State Of Union Address
In his last State of the Union address before the US election, President Joe Biden will criticise former President Donald Trump's vision for America and promise to make abortion rights the law of the nation, news agency Reuters reported. Biden's Union speech, which originates from the US Constitution's demand that a president report to Congress "from time to time," will take place at 9 pm in front of a joint session of the House of Representatives and the Senate, as well as a television audience.
In the aftermath of the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade in 2022, Biden will aim to contrast himself with Trump, his Republican adversary in the November 5 election, on abortion rights. Three of the nine-member court's six conservative judges were appointed by Trump.
"If Americans send me a Congress that supports the right to choose, I promise you: I will restore Roe v. Wade as the law of the land again," Biden will state, Reuters reported citing excerpts released by the White House.
