US imposes sanctions on 3 China firms for supplying components to Pakistan for ballistic missile project
The US has taken action against three China-based companies and one from Belarus for providing missile-related components to Pakistan’s ballistic missile programme. The sanctioned companies include Xi’an Longde Technology Development, Tianjin Creative Source International Trade, Granpect Co. Ltd from China, and Minsk Wheel Tractor Plant from Belarus.
China, a key ally of Pakistan, has long supported Islamabad’s military modernization efforts by supplying arms and defense equipment. The sanctions highlight concerns over the proliferation of missile technology and its impact on regional stability.
These entities “have engaged in activities or transactions that have materially contributed to, or pose a risk of materially contributing to, the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction or their means of delivery, including any efforts to manufacture, acquire, possess, develop, transport, transfer or use such items, by Pakistan,” State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said on Friday.
