Like much of Chennai and several other districts, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) emerged victorious in all the five constituencies in south Chennai. On the Anna University campus, the counting centre for the south Chennai constituencies — namely, T. Nagar, Saidapet, Velachery, Mylapore, and Virugambakkam — the TVK candidates maintained steady leads ever since counting commenced at 8 a.m. on Monday (May 4, 2026).
At Saidapet, TVK candidate M. Arul Prakasam defeated DMK’s Ma. Subramanian by a margin of 28,514 votes. Mr. Subramanian came second, polling 52,691 votes. Speaking to The Hindu, Mr. Prakasam said, “I dedicate this victory to my leader [C. Joseph Vijay]. We expected this kind of a win.”
