US President Donald Trump has demanded compensation from Iran for people killed or seriously wounded in conflicts involving Tehran, saying the issue will be included in any future negotiations between the two countries.

Trump's demand came in response to what he described as a request by representatives of the Islamic Republic for compensation over damage caused to Iran during the five-month military conflict.

In a post, Trump said Iran's request was an "interesting idea" and announced that he was making a similar demand from Tehran.
