US-Iran War Live: US President Donald Trump has called off a planned visit by American officials to Pakistan, effectively halting a second round of indirect negotiations with Iran. Speaking to Fox News, Trump dismissed the long journey, arguing that an 18-hour trip was unnecessary given what he described as the United States’ strong negotiating position.
He stated that his team had been preparing to depart, but he intervened, saying the journey would be unproductive. According to Trump, Washington holds decisive leverage and sees no reason to engage in lengthy discussions abroad when Tehran could initiate contact instead.
The cancelled trip was expected to include envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, who were scheduled to meet Iranian representatives in Islamabad. The development came shortly after Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi concluded meetings with Pakistani leaders, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
