Trump praises Putin, slams Zelensky after son-in-law Jared, envoy Witkoff’s Russia meeting| Ukraine

US President Donald Trump struck an optimistic tone on his Ukraine peace push after Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow. Trump described the talk as “a very good meeting,” suggesting that Moscow responded positively to the outlines of his proposed peace plan.

According to Trump, his envoys returned with the strong impression that Putin wants to end the war and is open to negotiating a settlement. Trump emphasized that his administration has “something pretty well worked out with Ukraine,” portraying Kyiv as broadly satisfied with the direction of his proposal.

He argued that both sides now face immense pressure due to the heavy battlefield toll, which he cited as the driving reason behind his push for rapid peace talks.
