Iran has responded to US President Donald Trump's statement on a five-day pause in military strikes, claiming Trump retreated after a firm warning from the Islamic Republic. The Iranian embassy in Kabul stated that after Iran threatened to target the energy infrastructure of the entire region in the event of US attacks on its energy facilities, Trump backed down and postponed the attack.
Iran has not accepted the five-day pause offered by Trump. Over the last 48 hours, Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi indicated there is no point in having talks with the United States, while military spokespersons have mocked Trump's statements.
Analysts note that despite 24 days of relentless bombing by Israeli and US air forces, Iran has retained its command and control over missiles and drones, demonstrating preparedness built over decades.
