Emphasising the demands of working-class people, including labourers, farmers and agricultural labourers, and condemning the anti-labour and anti-people policies of the Union BJP government, a nationwide picketing and prison-fill protest was held on Monday.
As part of the protest, a rally involving workers started from the Kattabomman statue in Madurai and proceeded towards the railway station, where a picketing and prison-fill protest was organised.
Trade unions, including CITU, LPF, AITUC, INTUC, TUTC, UTUC, HMS, MLF and AIUTUC, participated in the protest.
