The game took place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. England batted first, setting a target of 165 runs. India struggled initially as their top order faltered, but Tilak Varma steadied the innings and led India to victory. He faced 58 balls and hit 8 fours and 2 sixes during his innings.

Tilak Varma’s innings of 72 runs has secured his place in the record books. He has become the first batsman in the world to score over 300 runs in T20 internationals without getting out among full member countries. Tilak scored unbeaten 107 and 120 runs in the last two T20 matches against South Africa.

Following that, he made an unbeaten 19 runs in the first T20 against England and remained not out in the second match as well. His total runs in this format without being dismissed have now reached 318. This record was previously held by Mark Chapman, who scored 271 runs between two dismissals in T20 internationals.
