Supreme Court orders CBI investigation into Karur stampede

The Supreme Court on Monday ordered a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)-led probe into the Karur stampede in Tamil Nadu, where at least forty people were killed during a stampede at actor-politician Vijay’s rally on September 27.

The bench, led by Justices JK Maheshwari and NV Anjaria, directed the setting up of a three-member committee headed by former Supreme Court judge Ajay Rastogi to monitor the investigation.
