Supreme Court Collegium recommends Patna High Court Chief Justice to the top court
The Collegium headed by Chief JusticeChief JusticeChief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna noted that there was currently no judge from the High Court of Kerala on the Bench of the Supreme Court. Supreme Court judge, Justice C.T. Ravikumar, who was from the Kerala High Court, retired last week.
Justice Chandran is presently the senior-most among High Court judges hailing from Kerala.
The Supreme Court Collegium has also recommended the transfer of Bombay High Court Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya to Delhi and the Telangana High Court Chief Justice Alok Aradhe to the Bombay High Court.
If the Union government approves the recommendation of Justice Chandran quickly, the Supreme Court would function with its full sanctioned judicial strength of 34 judges until the retirement of Justice Hrishikesh Roy on January 31, 2025.
